For me, sitting down with a book was always better with something to sip and something to snack on. It wasn't just about the reading. It was about the ritual of arriving there — of settling in, letting the world go quiet, and giving my full attention to the words in front of me.

I've been a nurse for over 14 years, most of that time in a pediatric emergency room. If you know, you know. And if you don't — it's the kind of work that asks everything of you and more. My reading ritual was my escape. My way to unwind, to let go, to step out of the chaos and into someone else's world for a little while. So many stories carried me through. They gave me peace when peace felt hard to find. They reminded me that there was a quiet place waiting, just on the other side of the first page.
